Meet&Work

Our bi-weekly event is called Meet&Work.

During the stand-up session with the student entrepreneurs:

  • Successes and challenges are shared
  • Feedback given
  • Solutions found
  • Actions and steps forward explored and committed to

We often run a ‘hot seat’ session where one entrepreneur brings a specific case, dilemma or obstacle and receives individual coaching from the coaches and students.

And members regularly invite guest speaker.

After these Meet&Work sessions everyone leaves even more motivated and inspired.

The sessions are open to all (student) media entrepreneurs and business owners.

Co-working space students

Our co-working space is called the Start Up Community and is situated at Mica, address: Sixmastraat 15, Leeuwarden. Facilities (coffee, office supplies, WiFi) are provided, but the main point of offering the co-working space is the entrepreneurial atmosphere it provides. Co-working makes ‘knowledge spillover’, motivational support and inspiration happen.

As one of the first founders of a co-working space once explained: “it gives the structure and community of a job, but the freedom and independence of working for yourself.”

Perfect for starting and early-stage entrepreneurs!

Co-working space alumni

The co-working space is mainly used by graduation year CB and CMP students. To graduate, doing (completing?) an internship is compulsory for both programs.

The Start Up Community provides the opportunity to graduate and to build a media-related business at the same time.

As for the internship ‘working from home’ is prohibited (not allowed/not encouraged), students (are asked to) work from the co-working space. After graduation, for free, entrepreneurs can make use of the space for three additional months.

Furthermore, the co-working space is a living lab! Research is conducted by PhD candidate Harro Prins, Professor Aleid Brouwer and lector (lecturer?)  Dr Migchiel van Diggelen on themes (subjects?) related to ‘sense of community’ in the university co-working space, how it emerges and why that is beneficial.
