Inspiring Meet&Work Session with the Chamber of Commerce
Last Thursday (April 3rd), our entrepreneurs and team members attended an inspiring presentation by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce during the Meet&Work session. The main topic? Starting your own business — from the initial idea to making it a reality. The session provided valuable insights into the 10 essential steps of entrepreneurship and opened up the floor to questions about international business. We explored topics like working abroad, collaborating with international companies, and the basics of global trading — all highly relevant for our start-up community of ambitious young entrepreneurs with a global mindset. Some key takeaways from the presentation included:– The importance of writing a business plan (even if it starts on the back of a napkin)– Identifying your target group and market– Understanding financial planning, such as investment budgets and cash flow– Choosing the right legal structure (like a sole proprietorship or BV)– Managing risks and arranging proper insurance The session ended with practical tips on how to come up with a business name, register with the Chamber of Commerce, and take those first steps as a new entrepreneur. For many of our participants, it was an eye-opening introduction to the realities of running a business — and for others, a much-needed next step on their journey. The Startup Community offers CB and Creative Media Professional (CMP) students the unique opportunity to integrate their graduation projects with the operation of their own media-related businesses, while benefiting from professional guidance and support throughout the process. This initiative provides student entrepreneurs with a well-equipped professional office space where they can collaborate daily with like-minded individuals.

Partnership with mooiedingenmakers.nl
Mooiedingenmakers.nl (pretty stuff makers.nl) and CBC startup-up community are, as of now, officially Best Friends Forever. It all happened very quickly, but it feels so good! MDM is a network of professionals in the cultural and creative industry in the Northern Region of The Netherlands. CBC Startup community members are introduced in this great network of media talent. Mooiedingenmakers.nl drop by whenever they need media to be created. Koen gave a brief presentation about MDM, the members, the events and all the benefits (lots of discounts) it had to offer. All interns can be found now on Mooiedingenmakers.nl. Just check the entrepreneurs gallery and find the MDM links.
Fresh blood
Four new interns made their entrance in the startup community. Jane Pham (Vietnam), Lisa Henzler (Germany), Lynn van Kammen (the Netherlands) and Merten Richter (Germany) kicked off last week, starting with a bootcamp. With lunches, a trip to Hersenhuis, design challenges and a speed date, they were introduced to the other members, to the routines and the office environment. Amazing how quick they were integrated. Lynn offered to contribute to the website as designer. Jane will support the community when it comes to social media presence. A warm welcome to our community guys! Hope you have a wonderful time!
